President Yoweri Museveni is expected to be the main congregant at the Big Fix Holy Spirit Global Conference in Kampala today, in what is set to be one of the biggest moments of the seven-day spiritual gathering.

Museveni is expected to arrive at the conference venue at about 2:00pm and leave at around 4:00pm, according to organisers.

And today promises to be another fire-filled day at the Big Fix, with internationally renowned televangelist and faith healer Pastor Benny Hinn expected to jet into Kampala to minister at the conference.

The high-profile programme comes as thousands of believers continue to flock to the gathering organised by Pastor Robert Kayanja, Senior Pastor of Miracle Centre Cathedral.

MAYANJA PRAISES KAYANJA

Meanwhile, Uganda’s Attorney General, Hon. Sam Mayanja, has praised Pastor Kayanja for his contribution to the growth of the Born Again Christian movement in Uganda.

Pr Kayanja welcomung Minister Mayanja at the Big Fix

Speaking as a guest preacher at the Big Fix, Mayanja said Kayanja had played a major role in moving churches from temporary structures, popularly known as biwepe, to permanent church buildings.

He recalled that in the early 1990s, Pastor Kayanja declared that he would build a permanent church—and eventually did so, with President Museveni later commissioning the facility.

Mayanja said the achievement demonstrated Kayanja’s faith at a time when many Born Again Christians were still struggling.

The Attorney General also credited President Museveni with supporting freedom of worship, particularly during a period when, according to him, there were efforts to restrict the recognition of the Born Again faith to Uganda’s then three major religious traditions—Catholicism, Protestantism and Islam.

Mayanja said Museveni instead allowed the Born Again movement to operate and grow.

MAYANJA RECOUNTS AMIN ENCOUNTER

Mayanja, who described himself as a former street preacher in his youth, also shared a personal testimony about surviving Uganda’s turbulent past, including the regime of former President Idi Amin.

He recalled an encounter with Amin when he went to plead for the release of university students who had been arrested.

“I am blessed. When I met President Amin, he told me to serve myself tea at his office. I served myself and him. He was happy and changed the death sentence for me and the students, allowing that they could be released,” Mayanja said.

He said people were shocked after learning that he had personally met Amin and secured the release of Makerere University students.

Mayanja said he later worked and served alongside Full Gospel and other Born Again Christians, including Apostle Alex Mitala.

‘BELIEVE IN THE GOD OF MIRACLES’

Mayanja urged believers attending the Big Fix to have faith in God, saying he personally believes in a God of miracles.

“I believe in God of miracles. I believe in God. He has blessed me and before you and I leave this ground today and this week, we will all be blessed of the Lord,” he said.

He also urged believers to serve God faithfully.

“I urge you to support the God of Pastor Robert Kayanja. He works. He is real. He has blessed me when I served him from when I was young, from a poverty-stricken background, and I am today the Attorney General of Uganda,” Mayanja added.

TANZANIAN BISHOP SPEAKS

A Tanzanian Bishop, John Makosa, also hailed Uganda for having senior leaders such as Mayanja among the Born Again Christian community.

Preaching after Mayanja’s address, Makosa urged children to honour and serve their parents, describing parents as a source of blessing to their children.

He also encouraged parents to work hard to leave an inheritance for their children, saying the principle is biblical.

Using the biblical account of Isaac, Jacob and Esau, Makosa spoke about blessings, hard work, wisdom and doing good.

GLOBAL CHRISTIAN STARS AT BIG FIX

The Big Fix has attracted participants from China, Spain, the United States, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Germany, Canada, Pakistan, India, Nigeria, Ghana, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, France and South Africa, among other countries.

Benny Hinn, the Israeli-born American-Canadian televangelist, author and faith healer known for his large-scale Miracle Crusades, is expected to minister during the conference.

Also expected is renowned American preacher Dr Kenneth Copeland, while Nigerian pastor Dr Paul Enenche, Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre in Abuja, has already been delivering special messages to believers.

Enenche has emphasised the importance of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, describing them as central to the spiritual development of the Church and urging believers not to ignore them.

Pastor Kayanja has announced that the Big Fix Global Conference will become an annual event, with the vision of making it a spiritual springboard for global spiritual renewal.

And if the numbers from last night are anything to go by, the Big Fix is already operating on a massive scale—with more than 50,000 people reported to have attended last night’s gathering.
