NEC FC sent a loud warning to their Uganda Premier League rivals after humiliating URA FC 4-1 in a thrilling encounter at Phillip Omondi Stadium, stretching their winning streak and climbing to second on the table.

URA stunned the hosts just seconds after kick-off when Isma Mugulusi fired home in the opening minute. But the Tax Collectors’ joy was short-lived as NEC responded with relentless attacking football.

James Jerieko restored parity in the 14th minute before Richard Basangwa completed the comeback with a clinical finish three minutes before halftime. Enrique Lubwama piled more misery on URA in first-half stoppage time to send NEC into the break with a commanding 3-1 lead.

Basangwa returned after the restart to complete his brace in the 50th minute, putting the result beyond doubt as NEC completely dominated the visitors.

The emphatic victory moves NEC into second place in the league standings, while URA remain stuck in eighth after a painful defeat.

After the match, NEC coach Kaddu Badru Mukasa praised his players for their discipline, organisation and commitment to the game plan, saying the team is determined to keep its impressive form after the international break.

NEC now shifts focus to a home clash against Express FC, with confidence soaring after another statement win.
